Internet & Cable

I’m not feeling too hot today :(

I have a cold, I haven’t been sleeping well the past few nights, and I’m stressed out about moving into mine and Brent’s new apartment (even though I’m also INCREDIBLY EXCITED!).

Last night, we added some more furniture to the list of things we now own for our new place! Along with the coffee table and hutch, Brent got a desk, a shelf, and two swivel desk chairs off of Craigslist. He drove 2 hours round trip to get them last night! He’s a trooper :) I’m excited that we got the desk, because that means that we can now officially move in on Tuesday!

(This is the picture from the Craigslist ad… it doesn’t really do it justice, though.)

Yesterday, on our way to go see the Five Year Engagement movie, my mom and I stopped by Cox Communications and set up a cable and internet package for the apartment! Brent and I decided on an HD cable box (because he has an HD TV) with a DVR, as well as the Premium internet (which is 30mbps).

Internet is something we talked about and both wanted to splurge on, because we use it so often. We ended up going with the Premium vs. the Premier because the higher speed is better for doing things like watching Hulu and Netflix, which we do a lot. Originally, we weren’t even going to get cable, but we both realized how much we actually do use it. And if we were getting cable, I really wanted a DVR as well, and was willing to pay the extra $10/month for it. Brent admitted that he’d probably use it a bunch too, so we’re both pleased with our decisions. I’m so excited to finally have a DVR! I can’t wait to start recording Property Virgins and Survivor, haha.

The guy that helped us in the Cox store was awesome! We were able to get an even better deal than what they were offering online. Going to do something in person is often a lot easier and much less confusing than trying to do it online. Brent spent an hour chatting online with Cox’s automated robot and got absolutely nowhere. I think we both prefer talking to real people.

After Cox, we swung by my new place so I could show my mom where it was. Randomly, the landlord just happened to be there, and he was able to let us into the apartment! She loved it :) Even though Brent and I both really like the place, it’s glad to get a second opinion. My mom’s approval is definitely important to me.
