BOOM

by MirandaMowbray on June 25, 2012

I’ve had insomnia since I was a little kid, and last night was no different… I didn’t fall asleep until around 4:30am. So when I was awoken by a huge BOOM of thunder at 9:30am, I was not a happy girl.

Some people absolutely love thunder storms. I am not one of those people.

Sure, they can be beautiful! But they’re also terrifying. It’s like how a lion is majestic and gorgeous until, you know… you become it’s lunch.

I think that part of the reason I hate them so much has to do with the fact that I’m very easily scared. People love to jump out and scare me, because I’ll scream bloody murder every time. I’m just a jumpy person! Once I screamed so loud after Brent scared me that he was worried our upstairs neighbors were going to call the police on him because it sounded like somebody was being murdered. Luckily that didn’t happen.

After the big BOOM that woke me up – it was so loud, I think it was probably only a block or two away – I ran out of the bedroom frantically looking for Brent. I was worried that he was at the gym, so I was so glad when I saw him standing in the kitchen. One look at my face and he burst into laughter. He asked, “Do you want me to come lie down with you?” “YES!” I screamed, and ran back into our room. After a few more “close calls” the storm seemed to move away, and I felt much better.

So now I’m awake and grumpy after only five hours of sleep. Obviously here’s no way I could’ve fallen back asleep after that horrific experience.

Awww… I’m super jumpy too. My friends think it’s hysterical because we can just be walking from point a to point b, in broad day light and someone can make a loud unexpected noise and I scream like death! But I LOVE thunderstorms.

I’m sorry you had no sleep last night. That’s awful. Hopefully tonight will be better.
